I. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR

  1. Demonstrates competency in the English language; speaking, reading, and writing
  2. Reads to acquire & use information from variety of sources
  3. Utilizes technology to access, interprets & disseminates information, including all forms of technology; including computer applications, the internet & handheld calculators
  4. Listens and interprets both actively & critically
  5. Appreciates & articulates ideas clearly, creatively & effectively through oral, written & artistic documents
  6. Works independently & cooperatively to accomplish tasks.

  1. Demonstrates the ability to identify safe and unsafe choices and environments
  2. Develops positive, nonviolent strategies for conflict resolution; redirects anger into positive channels at a student-student, staff-student & group-group level
  3. Has knowledge & implements appropriate hygiene, nutrition & physical fitness practices
  4. Cultivates confident self-image; physically, emotionally, intellectually & spiritually
  5. Communicates self-discipline by accepting individual & group responsibility
